Personality John Winchester is a very stubborn and proud man. But he is also very focused. He sets his mind on a task and does not give up until this job is completed to the best of his abilities. Failure is not a word in John’s vocabulary. His philosophy is go big or get the hell out of here so someone else can do the job right. He is not particularly friendly to people he does not know and can come off as rude, arrogant and self-righteous but he really does care behind that tough mask. He does not mince words when he is speaking to someone. He will tell you his opinion of you without any fluff behind the words. With John, words are not wasted so when he speaks, listen closely to what he has to say. Since his trip to Hell, John is even less tolerant of misbehavior and will act quickly to tame any acting out that happens under his watchful eye. Although he will not talk about his time served, he picked up some very valuable skills that will be used should he be provoked. |
History Before marrying his wife Mary, John served in the marines which helped shape his tough exterior and disciplinary policies. After he married, he settled down in Lawrence, Kansas with a house and made a family. For a while, life was good. He had a beautiful wife and two great sons. Then the unthinkable happened. On November 2, 1983, John’s wife was killed in a mysterious fire, sending his life spiraling out of control. Packing up what little survived the fire, he took his sons away from Lawrence after visiting a psychic and discovering that a dark force was behind Mary’s death. He spent the next 23 years on the road, hunting down the things that go bump in the night and saving as many lives as he could while tracking the thing that killed his wife. When his youngest, Sam was 18, he wanted to leave the “family business” for college, causing a massive fight and ending with his youngest leaving and the family of hunters down to two. For four years, John and Dean hunted together while Sam was away. Then when Dean proved himself on a solo hunt, John took off to focus on finding the demon that ruined his family. The family of three met up on a botched hunt with a false lead on the demon that killed his wife. They separated after the incident, determining that it would be better to hunt apart so that the demon would not have a chance to take them together. John met his boys again months later when they discovered the whereabouts of the legendary Colt. Disappearing after a meet to give lower demons a fake Colt, he was possessed by the demon that killed his wife. This ended with his oldest gravely injured and the demon still not taken care of. When their ’67 Impala was t-boned by a semi on the way to the hospital to get help for Dean, the Winchesters landed in the hospital where John learned that his son would most certainly die. This resulted in him making a deal with the Yellow-eyed demon. His soul for his son’s safety. When John died, he went to Hell where he spent 100 years on the rack, endlessly tortured. |
